What your rising sign adds to your chart

Your Sun sign is one part of a much larger birth chart. Your Rising sign is the zodiac sign on the eastern horizon at the time and place you were born. This is why an accurate birth time matters.

Astrologers use the Rising sign as a starting point for the houses. In whole sign houses, the entire Rising sign is the first house and the other signs follow in order.

As a reflection tool, Rising can invite you to notice how you approach new situations. It does not have to describe every first impression you make. Compare the symbolism with your own experience, and keep what helps you understand yourself.
